Links for Halfway HomesteadersPath to FreedomThe website of a family of urban homesteaders in Pasadena, California, that manage an amazing range of agricultural projects in a very small space, all chronicled here. Projects include chickens and ducks, rabbits, permaculture, vermicomposting, a grape arbor, and a variety of gardens. The "Urban Homestead Diary" is definitely worth a read. You Grow GirlAn e-zine and online community of and for gardeners, primarily young and urban gardeners. Topics include vermicomposting, pop bottle drip irrigation, first-time canning, converting lawns to gardens, mood gardening, saving seeds, and specific crops. The emphasis is on making gardening cheap, fun, and cool, and the design is wonderful. Most of the site is user-contributed, and some twenty forums provide an opportunity to ask advice and share experiences. You Grow Girl seems to be growing rapidly, so check it out.
